Basic Inserter Productivity Calculator

This calculator provides a simple look at the effect of the major production factors on an inserter's actual throughput. The calculator computes the performance of an inserter accounting for the primary causes of reduced production that occur when the machine is in use (see Calculator Scope). For a description of the productivity factors handled by this calculator see Basic Productivity Factors.

The screen shot below shows the main page for the Productivity Calculator. Detailed information is available for the various features and parameters of the model by clicking on the Info Icon icons located throughout the page.

The calculator has three main sections, denoted by the large red letters:

A - Results

The computed output of the model is show in this section. As you modify the model parameters, the Results Section will automatically update to show you the effect of your changes on Production Rate and Machine Productivity.

B - Model Parameters

The parameters used by the model are displayed in this section. Each parameter is shown with it's name, it's physical measurement units, the current value of the parameter, and a sensitivity value: the relative amount that the Net Production Rate changes when this parameter is changed (see Sensitivity for more info). Information on each of the parameters can be found by clicking on its info button. Two command buttons are provided for changing the parameters:

opens a window that allows any or all of the parameters to be changed.
Resets all the parameters to some typical values.

The calculator remember's each user's last parameter settings, and will restore them the next time you visit the page (assuming that you are using the same browser and PC and haven't disabled cookies or cleared your cookie cache).

C - Performance Graph

The graph displayed in this section shows Net Production verses a selected model parameter, for the full range of that parameter. The parameter that is used as the independent variable (shown on the horizontal axis of the graph) can be selected from the drop down control in the upper right of the section:

The graph will automatically update anytime a new parameter is selected.
